Scrooge 'A Christmas Carol'
Christmas show for older pupils:
Everyone knows this masterpiece by Charles Dickens in terms of content.
Every form has been used to represent this classic.
No classic hand puppetry but a game technique rarely used in the Netherlands. Scrooge is a form of shadow playing.
From a large decor, the puppeteer moves the figures like a shadow.
Scrooge comes home to the office after a difficult and unforgettable day and falls asleep while sitting on his chair.
After the appearance of his former partner Marley, Scrooge receives a visit from three ghosts: The past, present and future.
They hold up the mirror of his own life to Scrooge.
Characteristic is his greed and dissatisfaction.
After three ghosts, the icy Scrooge repents and starts another existence.
The audience is guided by the puppeteer's story technique.
It is fascinating to see how the audience, fascinated by the poor decor and stylish dolls, moves back many years and empathizes with the black and white life of the icy creation Scrooge.
This performance can be booked on one half day together with the Christmas performance Christmas gnome for the lower grades.
